In order to enhance access and safety for bats and other wildlife at livestock water developments, BCI and its partners initiated the multi-year program, "Water for Wildlife" to :

- determine how livestock and wildlife water development configuration, water levels, and obstacles, affect bat access, and to evaluate the effectiveness of various wildlife escape structure designs and trough fencing and bracing methods

- to utilize this information to develop a comprehensive handbook for range and wildlife managers on the installation or retrofitting of wildlife-friendly livestock water developments

- to provide training to range and wildlife managers on methods for improving wildlife access and safety at livestock water developments.
